Q:
# Which five values would be used to graph a box-and-whisker plot for the following set of data? 36, 14, 27, 27, 33, 22, 41, 29

Accepted Solution

A:

First put all the number in order from least to greatest:

Q1 Q2 Q3

{14,22,27,(27}{,29),33,36,41}

add/div. by 2 add/div. by 2

28.5 34.5

Minimum: 14 (smallest number)

Quartile 1: 28.5 (middle number of q1)

Quartile 2: 28 (middle number) when you have and even amount of numbers you end up having 2 middle numbers, so you just add them then divide by 2. 27+29=56 56/2=28

Quartile 3: 34.5 (middle number of q3)

Maximum: 41 (biggest number)

I hope this helped you! :)
